What to do When You have a Toenail Fungus
DO NOT WAIT! One of the most common things to do when a person has a toenail fungal infection is to wait. Most of the time these infections are not painful but if left untreated can result in pain and hideous toes. Waiting only lets the problem at hand get WORSE. Coming from my own personal experience, treating it as soon as possible instead of putting it off is the best course of action.
My toenail fungus started off as athlete’s foot. Years of neglect spread the fungus onto both of the soles of my feet. Eventually, it found it’s way onto my toes. If I would have just treated the athlete’s foot, I would not have had this terrible toenail fungal infection. Luckily, years of testing products let me find what works best.
So, in order to effectively beat fungus for good, start today. Go out and buy the products that you will need and stick to it. Spending $50 now is worth it to save you from years of embarrassment. Be consistent with application of the products and do not be discouraged. Fungus on the skin heals fast but if it is under the nails, one will have to exercise patience. Eliminating the fungus on the skin first is better because then you can focus your energy on the nails. The next parts of the article will analyze some products and methods of treatment.
List of Treatments
What I Recommend
Not everything I recommend to use found it’s way onto the list above. Out of the list, some of the most effective treatments that I found to work for me is a combination of Tolnaftate cream and tea tree oil. I go into more depth on how I use these products in this article here. One of the items that did not make it on the list but is effective is the use of an organic foot balm and tea tree oil foot wash. This combination of products expedited the process of treatment.
What worked for my father is also on the list. He initially tried using Lotrimin, but it proved to be not very effective in treatment of nail fungus. Additionally, the price of it from local drug stores was quite high. He then switched to a brand called Fungi-Nail. While it is not on the list, it did work somewhat for him. He used the liquid version with the brush applicator. On the bottle, it clearly states that it does not work for nail fungal infections. For some odd reason he saw a little success with it.
His breakthrough came when he used Probelle Nail Gel. His nails were yellow, chalky, thick and actually curling. They looked as if he had used a hair curler on his nails. They were HORRIBLE looking. But he stuck to using Probelle and was very religious with application. Soon he completely cured his toenail fungus within a few months! It was amazing to see him walking around in flip flops showing off his new nails.
